Communications president Gary Randall retires Gary Randall, 60,
one of the co-founders of Pamplin Communications Corp., will retire April
11 to focus on other projects. He has been president
of Pamplin Communications for the past eight years. Paul Scott, vice president
of Pamplin Distribution, the distributing division for the music company,
is a front-runner to replace Randall. In 1993, Randall and
Robert Pamplin Jr. started the company with the purchase of the retail
chain, Christian Supply Center Inc. The partners have since added Pamplin
Music Company, Pamplin Entertainment and Pamplin Broadcasting Inc. More
recently, the company launched The Portland Tribune newspaper and purchased
Community Newspapers Inc., a chain of 18 suburban newspapers. Pamplin
also owns six radio stations across the West. Randall has been "an
integral part of the development and growth of the company," Pamplin
said. Randall, an ordained
minister, was also host of a Christian talk show on KOIN-TV from 1978
to 1990 and produced a children's TV series. The "Gary Randall Program"
